(Forimmediaterelease.net) Activity International, one of the largest international exchange organizations in the Netherlands, signed the Child Protection Code on June 5, 2012. Activity International is specialized in organizing holidays for young people who want to do voluntary work, work as an au-pair, or follow language courses abroad. Sixty percent of their clients are between 18 and 24 years old.

Janine Wegman, co-owner of Activity Internationa, said: “We send volunteers to countries where children and youth become victims of sexual exploitation. We want our volunteers and local partners to be are aware of that. We find it important that the protection of children has a structural place in our business. By signing the Child Protection Code we implemented child protection measures in our daily work.

The Code (www.thecode.org) is an industry-driven responsible tourism initiative co-funded by the Swiss Government (SECO) and by the tourism private sector, and supported by the ECPAT International network. Advisory partners are UNICEF and UNWTO.
