Ambassador to Laos Ta Minh Chau recalled Vietnam’s great achievements over the past 67 years as well as its traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Laos in recent years.

At a gathering in Phnom Penh, Ambassador Ngo Anh Dung affirmed that Vietnam consistently pursues its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, and openness and is a responsible friend and partner in the international community. Vietnam is also a trustful and loyal neighbour standing side by side with Cambodia and other ASEAN countries in the process of building a strong community.

Dung described 2012 as very important as it marks the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year and the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

A series of activities in celebration of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2) have been held in Sri Lanka, such as a meeting, a film show to promote Vietnam’s tourism, traditional art performances, and Vietnam cuisine week.

The Communist Party of India (CPI) has also organised a meeting to mark Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day. CPI members recalled the close ties between the two countries established by late President Ho Chi Minh and late President Jawaharlal Nehru, and expressed their hope that they will continue to grow and flourish forever.
