Pirate Bay cofounder Gottfrid Svartholm Warg has just been apprehended in Cambodia, months after bailing on a one-year prison term and associated fines in Sweden.  Warg is currently being detained by Cambodian authorities, with plans for extradition to Sweden.

Legendary songwriter and lyricist Hal David passed away this weekend.   The Oscar-winning writer and longtime Burt Bacharach collaborator succumbed to heart complications at 91.  David first splashed into success with 'Magic Moments' in the 50s (made famous by Perry Como), and David and Bacharach went on a string of hits with Dionne Warwick.

The 'Budweiser Made In America' advertisement - uh, festival - kicked off this weekend in Philadelphia, with Jay-Z a major organizer.  Other crowd-drawing performers included Odd Future, Pearl Jam, Run DMC, and Dirty Projectors, though some questions are surfacing about city costs to support the event - ie, Jay-Z is getting paid, but is Philadelphia?  Difficult question, though Mayor Michael Nutter thinks tourism could tip the P&L towards profitability.  "Labor Day weekend is normally a quiet holiday for the hospitality industry in the city," Nutter offered in a statement. "But the early reports we're getting indicate substantially increased activity in our Center City hotels."  And remember: please enjoy premium, high-quality draft brews like Budweiser responsibly.

Speaking of lyrics, MetroLyrics has just released its iOS app for iPhone and iPads.  The app has all sorts of fun things, including - as you'd expect - lyrics searching, but also song identification and a location-focused 'around me' map that sounds interesting.

Looks like the US Government is in the music industry once again, and this time, it doesn't involve smashing pirate mansions or setting royalty rates.  Instead, the US Department of Commerce has pledged $284,000 to indie music export initiatives, as shepherded by A2IM.  That will net roughly $45 million in broader indie export royalties, according to the Department (we won't ask any questions on the math)...

Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds, Sara Bareilles, Michael Franti & Spearhead, and the Fresh Beat Band are among the artists supporting the Life Is Good Festival later this month, a charitable effort to combat child poverty, violence and illness.  The action happens September 22nd and 23rd outside of Boston on the Prowse Farm.  More here.

And, there's more happening on the Rolling Stones front.  The group is marching forward with four reunion dates, but there's also a film in the works.  According to early information, Crossfire Hurricane will hit HBO on November 15th, with limited theatrical release in the UK before eventually airing on BBC 2.  More as it develops...
