Sharifah Armani to make appearance at Sarawak Regatta

KUCHING: Fans will get to meet their favourite actress Sharifah Armani on Sept 14 and 15 to commemorate Sarawak Regatta.

She will be there with local producer Bjarne Wong at the Wayang Pacak Waterfront at 5.30pm.

Movie lovers will get nightly movie screenings at Kuching Waterfront, Mosti Marquee on Sept 14 to 16, organised by World Communications Network Resources Sdn Bhd in collaboration with Mosti and Information Department.

“We will screen Sayang, You Can Dance (Hock Star) on 14th, Possessed (Hock Star) on 15th and Embun (Finas) on 16th. Sharifah and I will be attending the opening of Sarawak Regatta on Sept 15 at Kuching Waterfront at 10am, and also present is Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg,” said Wong at a press conference yesterday.

Sharifah will be the Asean International Film Festival and Awards (Aiffa) 2013 Short Film Competition judge and will screen two of her own short films at the competition.

The four-day Aiffa 2013 is slotted from March 28 to 31 next year, and the year is an auspicious year as it is the 50th anniversary of the birth of Malaysia and Aiffa will be one of the major international events. Kuching will play host to the event, said Wong.

Aiffa aims to promote and encourage high standards in film-making in Asean, establish cooperation and collaborating in the film-making industry, promote tourism among Asean countries and give due recognition to film makers with outstanding achievements in Asean cinemas, among others, he said.

The four-day event includes the opening ceremony, dinner, people’s carnival, open air film show, film mart exhibition and seminar and Aiffa 2013 awards night and gala dinner.
