(Forimmediaterelease.net) The Seychelles Karting Association (SKA) has been joined by the Seychelles Tourism Board to confirm to Seychelles and to the world racing bodies that, not one but, two teams from the paradise islands of the Seychelles will be taking part in the 2012 Endurance Championship 12 Hours at Dubai Kartdrome driven by Mini.
At the small official function to make the formal announcement, the Chairperson of the association, Mrs. Liza Rene-Cosgrow, welcomed all present, especially the Minister for Tourism, Mr. Alain St.Ange; CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Mrs. Elsia Grandcourt; National Sports Council representative, Mr. Robert Auguste; the media; all the parents present; drivers; and the members of the association themselves.
“After years of existence, the Seychelles Karting Association has entered a historic moment. We will see not one but two teams entering this popular international race event, which started some years ago in Dubai. Up to 10 days ago, the Seychelles Karting Association was going to send only one team, but some rule changes forced the team to rethink the strategy; the Seychelles drivers wanted to go there and be competitive. The Seychelles drivers wanted to show their talent and not just go there for fun, and with efforts from the team themselves they have raised enough money to enter the second team, which the association has now officially done. The work to raise funds is not completed, but the association would like to congratulate the team for their hard work thus far,” Mrs. Liza Rene-Cosgrow said.
The partnership with the Seychelles Tourism Board will allow the Seychelles Karting Drivers Team to put Seychelles once again in the lime light. It is known that many international teams and companies come to the UAE to take part in this event. The Seychelles Karting Association said that they would like to thank the Tourism Board and the Ministry of Tourism in answering their call and for partnering with them to promote this event and bring karting to the forefront with great promotional items and banners that will be printed and be flying high at the Kartdrome in Dubai between October 12-13, 2012.
Minister Alain St.Ange on his part said, when he was invited to address the gathered drivers, parents, members, and friends of the association and the media, that just taking part is already winning for Seychelles. You will be flying the Seychelles flag at an international event, and this will do us proud as a country.
“Any association taking part in any overseas event is another exposure for the Seychelles. Today, I take this opportunity to wish all the drivers traveling to Dubai well. We all join together to wish you all the best of luck and hope that you can bring back some good results for our country,” Minister St.Ange said.
“Your trip to Dubai will give our country added press recognition, and for that we say thank you. Seychelles succeeds when we all rally to bring about positive actions that can attract press coverage like you are doing from your Karting Association. You are doing your share for the visibility of our country, and we thank you for this,” Minister Alain St.Ange ended by saying.
The realization of this participation of Seychelles at the Dubai race would not be possible if it weren’t for sponsors who have come to help when the Seychelles Karting Association asked for it. The association made a point to specially mention Hunt Deltel, EHW Honda, Excel Motors, The Boat House, Land Marine, Vijay Construction, Yangtze Construction, National Sports Council, and Berlouis Mondon Design Studio.
The Seychelles teams leave for Dubai on October 8, 2012 and are: SKA 1: David Rene (Captain), Peter Fred, Roland and Marc Delcy, Damian Bonnelame;
SKA 2: John Simon (Captain), Stephan Simon, Dane De Comarmond, Marvin Sophie, Redmond Bonnelame.
Accompanying them will be reserve driver, Debra Mellon, and Official Bernadette Mein. Their intensive training for fitness and strategy are well under way, and everyone present at the ceremony wished them success for the upcoming race. The race will take place between October 12-13, 2012, over 12 hours, from 9:00 pm to 9:00 am at the Dubai Kartdrome driver by Mini.
