(VOV) - The Tourism Ministers of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV), met in HCM City on September 14 to chart a development course in the coming years.

They spoke highly of the sharp increase in numbers of international arrivals over the years. In 2011 alone, the four nations attracted more than 12.3 million visitors, up 14.5 percent compared to 2010.
The ministers reviewed the implementation of the 2010 joint statement on CLMV tourism development and acknowledged the joint effort made by parties concerned in popularizing the campaign “Four Countries-One Destination”.
They appreciated the support of the ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC), ASEAN-Korea Center (AKC) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) in developing human resources, upgrading infrastructure and promoting CLMV in both Japan and the Republic of Korea.
They singed an agreement on CLMV tourism cooperation plan in the 2013-15 period, aiming to maintain and uphold the achievements that the four countries have gained, speed up efficient cooperation projects, and accelerate integration into international organizations.
Addressing the event, the Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh stressed the need for mutual cooperation between the four nations in tourism.
He suggested the four nations attract more foreign investment, boost competitiveness and engage in building an ASEAN community in 2015.
