HANOI, 4 October 2012: Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 460,238 international travellers in September representing an increase of 60.58% from 286,618 visits during the same month last year.
Thailand’s outbound trips to Vietnam ranked in 10th place with 17,863 visits increasing 64.86% from 10,835 visits during the same month in 2011.
China led the field as the top travel source with 98,423 visits improving 42.59% from 69,026 visits followed by South Korea, Japan, the United States, Taiwan and Cambodia.
Neigbouring Cambodia moved up to sixth place supplying 24,916 visits an improvement of 5.73% from 23,566 during the same period in 2011.
All of the top markets are in Asia/Pacific region with the exception of the United States and France.
The bulk of arrivals in September (374,761) passed through the two main aviation gateways, Hanoi and Ho Chi Min City.
For January to September, this year, tourist arrivals reached 4,853,155 an improvement of 12.55% on 4,312,127 visits during the same period last year.
