Tourism Authority of Thailand’s executives welcomed the group of New Zealand Beauty Contestants 2012; Miss Talia Bennette (Miss Universe New Zealand), Miss Lauren Mann (the First Runner-Up and Miss Wellington), and Miss Jennifer Lambly (The Second Runner-Up and Miss Auckland) while theirvisiting Thailand during 19-25 October 2012.
Mr. Suraphon said, “Celebrity marketing is one of TAT’s main strategies going forward. TAT believes the visit of New Zealand beauty contestants will generate substantial media exposure in New Zealand, and this will help tourist traffic to Thailand.”
In addition, the visit will do much to increase the awareness of the country’s quality tourist products, especially for ladies groups and couples group who are keen on health and wellness, Thai food, and shopping.
The contestants visited various attractions in Bangkok and Prachuap Khiri Khan Province which are favourite destinations among New Zealand travellers. The group enjoyed its excursion to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, The Grand Palace, Amita Thai Cooking School, Jim Thompson House, Hua Hin Vineyard, Chiva-SomInternational Health Resorts and Plern Warn.
According to the statistic from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, in 2011 Thailand welcomed 101,092 tourists from New Zealand,up 13.12%from 2011. The average expenditure is at 4,034 Baht per person/day. During January – December 2011, The New Zealand tourist stayed in Thailand for 12.63 day per trip approximately. Their favourite tourist destinations are Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Krabi, KohSamui, HuaHin, Cha-Am, and Pattaya.
