Malaysia Airlines takes off to Dammam

Malaysia Airlines will fly its inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur to Dammam via Dubai tonight. This marks the start of a new twice weekly service the carrier is operating to the Saudi Arabian city.
The new route gives Malaysia Airlines its 5th destination into the Middle East, in its efforts to grow the Middle East market.
Managing Director / CEO Tengku Dato' Azmil Zahruddin said, "Malaysia Airlines has been bringing Malaysians to the Middle East and vice versa for more than 30 years.
"The opening of Dammam as a new destination will further strengthen Malaysia Airlines' presence in the Middle East. Our aim is to be the preferred carrier to the city from Kuala Lumpur, providing the vital link for those conducting business there.
"To develop awareness in this new destination and expand the market, we have invested RM6 million into the route. This is in line with our strategy to grow this year through the modernization of our fleet and expansion of capacity with additional frequencies and new destinations," he added.
MH 154 which flies from Kuala Lumpur to Dammam via Dubai is operated using an Airbus 330-200 aircraft with 187 economy and 42 Business class seats, providing a total weekly capacity of 458 seats in each direction.
Malaysia Airlines currently operates flights into Dubai, Jeddah, Istanbul and Beirut. The national carrier also serves Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait and Muscat via code share partners Etihad, Gulf Air, Qatar Airlines and Egypt Air.
