HANOI, 9 February 2013: Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 651,812 international travellers in January representing a slight improvement of 3.46% over 630,000 visits during the same month last year.
Thailand’s outbound travel market supplied 21,132 visits ranking it 10th on the source market chart.
China led the field with 143,939 trips, but it represented a decline of 2.52% from 147,667 trips. South Korea followed in second place. Other notables were Japan, USA, Australia, and Cambodia.
Neigbouring Cambodia was in sixth place supplying 29,605 visits, but down 29.65% from 42,085 during the same month last year.
All of the country’s top markets were in the Asia/Pacific region with the exception of the US and Russia (eighth).
The bulk of arrivals in January (545,812) passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
