PHUKET, 7 May 2013: Thanyapura is selling what it calls a new approach to sporting excellence that offers three dimensional training that majors on physical development, mental fortitude and lifestyle coaching.
Targeting sports enthusiasts, Thanyapura Sports and Leisure Club brings together professional sports coaching, top sports facilities, complimented by non-physical training at the Thanyapura Mind Centre to develop mental fortitude and emotional balance.
“Guests at Thanyapura are aspiring to a wide range of different goals such as attaining a healthier lifestyle, improving sports performance and fitness levels, reducing anxiety and managing stress,” said Thanyapura president Robert Hauck.
There are fixed programmes but clients are given the freedom to select the most appropriate training system for them based on their individual requirements.
Physical programmes at TSLC include a tennis improvement course, a triathlon training course, and a swimming development course as well as sports performance camps aimed at children, which will take place in July.
The Thanyapura Mind Centre offers mental development programmes to cultivate concentration to increase sporting stamina and focus.
A newly launched Thanyapura Sports Hotel provides onsite accommodation. It has 77 rooms and opened November 2012.
Thanyapura president Robert Hauck said: “We have recently hosted world record holders and Olympic champions from the British, Dutch, and Italian national swimming teams, who were here at TSLC for high performance tune-up sessions.”
Thanyapura has worked with many world record holding athletes and regularly hosts international sporting events such as the Phuket Iron Man tournament.
Sports tourism has been identified by the Tourism Authority of Thailand as a niche market. The main emphasis has been on golf, although TAT Chiang Rai released, earlier this month, a campaign to promote the northern city as a cyclist friendly destination with cycle routes catering to varying levels of the sport.
